Welcome to my very first blog post! I’m Amanda Petersen, an artist, mother, and entrepreneur. Here, I want to share how I embarked on my creative journey. It started with becoming a mother at a young age and led to building a fulfilling life with my family while pursuing my passion for art.
In this post, I will explore my journey, the milestones I've achieved with A Petersen's Gallery, and my dreams for the future. I hope sharing my experience resonates with other young mothers, aspiring artists, and anyone who dares to chase their dreams.

My Early Motherhood Journey
At just 18 years old, I dove into the whirlwind of motherhood. This role thrilled and intimidated me simultaneously. The challenges of nurturing my baby while trying to forge my own identity felt overwhelming yet deeply fulfilling. I had to learn quickly and adapt to the demands of my new life. As a single parent during this time, I faced unique struggles. Balancing my responsibilities while seeking support and stability was a daily challenge.
The Joys and Challenges
Despite the difficulties of sleepless nights and countless diaper changes, my heart overflowed with love for my first child. This love opened my eyes to the beauty of family. There were sacrifices along the way, but I took immense pride in nurturing a family at such a young age. This experience taught me resilience, patience, and the necessity of balance in life.
Finding Love and Building a Family
Jumping into motherhood early made me feel limited. I often struggled to find time for my creative passions. However, my journey also brought unexpected joys. I found love in my husband, Ryan. With his support, I transitioned from being a single parent to building a family together. We welcomed another child into the world and moved from Wisconsin to Washington. This move allowed us to pursue our dreams and create a bright future for our children.

The Love That Empowers
Ryan became a pillar of support in my life. He provided understanding as we navigated parenthood together. His encouragement rekindled my creative passion. Together, we envisioned a future where we could chase our dreams while nurturing our family.
During the often exhausting nights of parenting, Ryan became my rock. His unwavering support fueled my creativity and helped me start A Petersen's Gallery to showcase my oil paintings. This gallery became a true reflection of our life together and my artistic aspirations.
Embracing New Horizons in Washington
Our lives took a significant turn when we decided to move from Wisconsin to Washington. This transition allowed us to align our lives with our shared dreams. The picturesque landscapes and vibrant artistic community in Washington became the backdrop for my art and our family life.
Moving marked a new chapter filled with opportunities. With two kids, we embraced the challenges of starting anew, building a creative haven that we had long envisioned. I finally felt free to explore my artistic side while cherishing my role as a mother.
A Petersen’s Gallery: Celebrating Achievements
Establishing A Petersen’s Gallery has been an exhilarating journey. Every brushstroke in my oil paintings embodies my experiences as a young mother and artist. I am immensely proud of the milestones we've reached—from our debut exhibition to taking part in local art fairs.
One of my most unforgettable experiences was hosting my first gallery showing as a pop-up event. It helped me gain confidence in my passion and the community's support inspired me to continue creating and striving for growth.
Navigating the Entrepreneurial Journey
Balancing my artistic dreams with motherhood creates a unique entrepreneurial path. As a mother and wife, I navigate the complexities of family life while striving to fulfill my creative aspirations. With one main income, priorities weigh heavily on my shoulders. Reinventing my identity while pursuing my passions has been a continuous learning process.
Running A Petersen's Gallery from home allows me to blend my commitment as a mother with my business. Not every day is easy; I often juggle the kids' needs alongside my artistic ambitions. Yet, I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything!
Each day, my husband and children inspire me. They remind me of the joy found in exploration and the value of curiosity. Their enthusiasm drives me to delve deeper into creating and sharing my art.
The Importance of Community
As an artist, community is vital. Engaging with fellow artists and art lovers brings new perspectives. Collaboration can spark creativity and fuel inspiration. I actively seek ways to connect with others and create a supportive environment for growth.
By hosting events and workshops, I hope to build a community of young creators. Together, we can share experiences, learn from each other, and celebrate our journeys.
Looking Ahead: Future Goals and Dreams
As I look to the future, my dreams for A Petersen's Gallery continue to evolve. I aspire to reach more art lovers and collectors, expanding my creativity and exploring new mediums. I plan to develop workshops and community events, fostering a connection among fellow artists and art enthusiasts.
Additionally, I want to empower other young creators to embrace their passions. There are countless untold stories, and sharing them can inspire others on their journeys. I believe that art can connect people, and my platform can make a difference.
